Moving south along the Central and Southern Pacific is Puntarenas, affectionately known as “El puerto” (now a blue flag beach), Playa Herradura, Playa Jacó, Playa Hermosa, Esterillos, Quepos, Manuel Antonio (considered by many to be the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica), Playa Dominical and beaches like Uvita and Playa Ventanas. Costa Rica is not an exception, however the good news is that, since 2016, expats have been able to open a non-resident bank account that they can use while going through the residency application process. Beautiful climate of the Central Valley not as warm as Grecia or Atenas.  You will find expats from all different parts of the world hanging out in hammocks or walking their dogs all along the beach.  On average the temp in the Central Valley is in the mid 70's with cool breezes off the mountains. I would love to visit just for that reason alone. There's a new hospital in Cortez about 25 minutes away and plenty of services available right in town too. We sure do miss Kim but we are glad she's having such a great time!  The small community has grown over the past few years to include several banks and super markets, a health and dental clinic and a feria every Saturday morning.  Even thought this is a town of 50,000, a day at the plaza in the heart of the city can give it more of a small town feel. Tamarindo went from once being a small fishing village to the most developed beach on the peninsula. What we loved: The best thing about living in Manuel Antonio for us was being within walking distance to a beautiful beach.  If you are not able to find what your looking for in town, Tilaran is only a short 30 minute drive and will probably have it.
